Save on Makeup - Just Buy What You Really Need - No Impulse Shopping

Impulse buying can really get ya - especially when your at the cosmetic counter!

My Shoppers Drugmart favourites are:
Jouviance Face-cream
Bare Minerals Face powder
Mac Lipstick Glosses

The thing is this - if you really need it - buy it - otherwise - walk right by it - bye bye!

I keep all of my lipsticks in the refrigerator in the summer.  Sounds weird - but nothing is worse than melted lipstick and it starts falling apart.

If your face powder compact ever falls on the floor but it is all still in the container - do not throw it out!

Just put a drop of rubbing alcohol into it and stir it around and just wait until it dries - well wow - it's just like new again. You just saved yourself at least $25.00.

Let's listen in to some tips and tricks about makeup - that will save you money!

Your Health is Your Wealth - Always pay yourself first!

Today I was thinking of ways to save money.  Well, on Tuesday, I went to the movies - that's cheap night.  Oh, and I saw "The Help" - it was a great flick.  So, that saved me about 5 bucks than if I had gone on a regular night.  Always have your SCENE card with you - the points can add up to - free movies.  Free is good.

Now that the summer is winding down - OMG - did I say that - well the pedicure - that can go!

Blogging has saved me money - while I blog - I'm not out shopping - and I'm not watching paperview movies.

I have a sticky note on the fridge - use up what is in here!

My motto this month is pay myself first!  Put something into savings even if it's just ten dollars - it will add up.

If your a spender and not a big saver - that's a big learning curve - so baby steps.

Charity Shops -  they are great places to find bargains - I have a friend who gets most of his clothes there - and he looks good.

I was in the convenience store getting a newspaper - I know I should just read the freebies - I will - give me time.  What people were spending on cigarettes - OMG - I don't know how they can afford it?  I don't smoke thank goodness.

I take public transit - it's still cheaper than driving a car and paying for parking.  That's a hard one to deal with because I know people love their cars.

A mantra keeps going through my head - spend less - save more! Spend less - save more!

Check this out!

Tonight, I am going to ask the Universe to watch over my finances - and - make every day a better day.

Almost everyone is trying to pay off one bill or another - just don't get too far into debt.

And, remember the most important lesson of all - your health - is your wealth.

How Cosmetic Junkies can Save Money

I have to confess right up front - I am a Cosmetic Junkie. I love Shopper's Drugmart or any cosmetic counter for that matter. Well, I use to be an Avon Lady - but hey - don't give up your day job.

So, because this blog is about saving your pennies and eventually big dollars - hopefully - here are more tips and tricks.

As I said recently - okay in my last post - always - every time you go to the cosmetic counter - usually there is a different girl there - ask for a sample of your most precious, your most wanted - high end - face cream. I save them up - and eventually - when my Joviance Cream is used up - I have some left from the samples - to get me through until I can afford the Joviance Cream.

Joviance cream is a mosturizer - ladies - it feels like silk on your face - really!!!!!

I have a friend who loves - okay - adores - Mac lipsticks and glosses - I have a few - they are nice - very nice.

Oh, if you want your feet to feel like silk at night - cream them up with an inexpensive cream - and wrap them up in clear plastic wrap. It's free and it works.

Remember - keep your Optimum Card with you at all times. Always shop on 20X the points days ladies and gentlemen. And only redeem when you get to the $200.00 level - and you have gotten all those dollars back - that you spent on things you thought you really needed.

Here is a video about how to save money wisely on the cosmetics front:

So - use the piggy bank system. Do whatever it takes to save a buck here or there.

Pennies do add up to dollars. I never tell people to completely stop shopping - I mean were a civilized society - I like to think. We are so blessed.

Just say this to yourself - do I really need this? And, sometimes lift your head up high and just walk away!!!!!

Remember When We Saved Money in The Piggy Bank

These days it is really hard to save money.  But, if we can just get back into that piggy bank mentality I know that if I can do it - so can you!

Why the Penny Saver Blog - because just like you - I need to be a better saver - and less of a spender.

I have lots of ideas to share - so here goes - the launch of the Penny Saver Blog.

One thing about blogging - I am not in the shops spending money.

I believe we have too much stuff - clutter - in our lives - if you have a house your lucky - garage sales are good ways to get rid of unnecessary items - and you will have money - to put in the piggy bank.

Piggy bank ideas:

When you go into the cosmetic section of the drugstore - lets say it's Shopper's Drugmart - ask for samples of your favourite face cream - it comes in handy when your running out of what you use everyday.

Only shop big time in Shopper's Drugmart when it is 20X the points day - and only redeem on redemption days.  That will pay you back big time on what you spend.  Always use your Shopper's Drugmart Optimum Card - don't shop there without it.

I am a Points Collector - RBC Avion Points - are so great.  My points actually paid for my trip to Las Vegas - and I stayed on budget.  Whatever you do a lot of - collect those points.

If you pay off your credit card every month - good for you - your not paying interest.  You can put those pennies in the piggy bank.

For those struggling with the bills a few things to remember is always pay yourself first.

If at the end of the month you paid all your bills and you pay something down on the entire month's billing - then your piggy bank plan is working.

You know all those drinks - like vitamin water - we indulge in - always make two drinks out of one - just water everything down with water and ice - you will find it has a nice taste - not so sugary.

Go meatless if you can! I only eat meat when I go out to a restaurant with friends or family - but that's me!

Never, ever, go dumpster diving please - that is just outrageous and full of germs.  Some frugality sites talk about that but I just find that gross.

I go shopping when my fridge is almost empty - that way - you eat what you have at hand - and throw less out.

Everyday I pledge to do one thing to help me save money.

Your money saving ideas are like gold to me - so please send in those money saving comments.

Together - we will share and swap money saving ideas.

Watch this video on how to save money.

Sometimes you need a distraction to spending.  Put a big sticky note on the fridge and say - no big purchases today!  Baby steps are the best way to save - or you will just give up right away!
