In this day and age it really is harder and harder to save money. I just heard about a lady who puts her credit cards in the freezer - so - she has to thaw them out to use them. Wow - the miracles of the refrigerator.
I think a better idea is just make sure you pay off the darn credit card bill every month - so - you don't have interest charges. That is a huge savings for some people.

No Spend Pledge Days
If you really want to save money - sometimes - you have to say to yourself - ok - today is a no spend pledge day. Do not eat out - do not rent movies - no shopping!
Ok, so this is pretty hard to do. But only do this when you know - you can do it! It takes a lot of self control.
Everyone has many projects around the house - that takes time - not money - so lets get a move on.
I just found out that being frugal does not mean being cheap.
Cheap is a person who won't part with a dollar - a miser - a penny pincher.
Not too much fun being around this person.
A frugal person will give up something in order to be able to do something else!
Well, for example if your an avid movie goer but also love those expensive coffee's.
Then one weekend - forget the movie - now that savings - just paid for your coffee's.
Do you get it now?
This week - no paperview for this gal - I'd rather save this money to pay down my bills.
Are you a Coupon Queen? Well- it will pay off - for example: a $1.00 off of swifters - is a great savings.
Inpulse shopping: go back a week later - if you really need it. This way - you cut down on the inpulse shopping.
Getting rid of stuff - this kind of housekeeping is great - this is where - you will find things you forgot you had.
This is just another great way to stop being a shop-a-holic.
Go for a walk outside - get some fresh air - it's free - and you will feel better for it.

Get That Piggy Bank Mentality
Hey you out there. Yes you. Got money problems - too many bills - not enough income. Well, you have to get that piggy bank mentality - back! You know when you were a kid and all your money went into your precious piggy bank. Well, bring it on - the piggy bank is back - and - here to stay.
Mentally - you must say to yourself - what can I do today to save money? Just one thing - even if it's only pennies. Because you can try and go cold turkey for not spending - but - your setting yourself up to fail - baby steps - that is what will be more effective. A little here - a little there.
Frugality is a mentality. You don't have to be super cheap to be frugal. Just try and be careful on what your spending your money on. At Shopper's Drugmart stock up on 20 X the points day. And, only redeem on redemption days when your at your highest points level.
Nobody said it would be easy. Today - I am reading the free newspaper - hey I just saved .50 cents. Wow!
And remember - always - pay yourself first.

Remember Pennies Do Add Up
Hey, I heard somewhere that they want to get rid of the penny. No way - I like pennies - they do add up - it just takes some effort - rolling them - well that can be a pain in the butt.
Just when it get's harder and harder to save here are some very special money saving tips:
If your a luncher outer - always make breakfast and dinner.
If you want a treat - have a pizza night.
Always go to the movies on cheap night - Tuesdays.
Renting a paper-view once in awhile is cheaper than going out to the show.
Renting a movie from a video store is even cheaper because you can watch the movie over and over.
If you do go to a restaurant - pick a cheaper one - one that is within your budget.
Always, always - pay off your visa - in full - every month.
Try to freeze your spending from your credit line if you have one.
Eat whatever you have in the fridge before you go shopping.
Never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach.
Shop at the charity shops once in awhile - you will be amazed what you can get dirt cheap.
Remember, take baby steps - no one said digging yourself out of a whole would be easy.
Points cards - yes, yes, yes!
But, always pay the bills off - or - your losing money in interest payments.

Save on Makeup - Just Buy What You Really Need - No Impulse Shopping
Impulse buying can really get ya - especially when your at the cosmetic counter!
My Shoppers Drugmart favourites are:
Jouviance Face-cream
Bare Minerals Face powder
Mac Lipstick Glosses
The thing is this - if you really need it - buy it - otherwise - walk right by it - bye bye!
I keep all of my lipsticks in the refrigerator in the summer. Sounds weird - but nothing is worse than melted lipstick and it starts falling apart.
If your face powder compact ever falls on the floor but it is all still in the container - do not throw it out!
Just put a drop of rubbing alcohol into it and stir it around and just wait until it dries - well wow - it's just like new again. You just saved yourself at least $25.00.

Your Health is Your Wealth - Always pay yourself first!
Today I was thinking of ways to save money. Well, on Tuesday, I went to the movies - that's cheap night. Oh, and I saw "The Help" - it was a great flick. So, that saved me about 5 bucks than if I had gone on a regular night. Always have your SCENE card with you - the points can add up to - free movies. Free is good.
Now that the summer is winding down - OMG - did I say that - well the pedicure - that can go!
Blogging has saved me money - while I blog - I'm not out shopping - and I'm not watching paperview movies.
I have a sticky note on the fridge - use up what is in here!
My motto this month is pay myself first! Put something into savings even if it's just ten dollars - it will add up.
If your a spender and not a big saver - that's a big learning curve - so baby steps.
Charity Shops - they are great places to find bargains - I have a friend who gets most of his clothes there - and he looks good.
I was in the convenience store getting a newspaper - I know I should just read the freebies - I will - give me time. What people were spending on cigarettes - OMG - I don't know how they can afford it? I don't smoke thank goodness.
I take public transit - it's still cheaper than driving a car and paying for parking. That's a hard one to deal with because I know people love their cars.
A mantra keeps going through my head - spend less - save more! Spend less - save more!

How Cosmetic Junkies can Save Money
I have to confess right up front - I am a Cosmetic Junkie. I love Shopper's Drugmart or any cosmetic counter for that matter. Well, I use to be an Avon Lady - but hey - don't give up your day job.
So, because this blog is about saving your pennies and eventually big dollars - hopefully - here are more tips and tricks.
As I said recently - okay in my last post - always - every time you go to the cosmetic counter - usually there is a different girl there - ask for a sample of your most precious, your most wanted - high end - face cream. I save them up - and eventually - when my Joviance Cream is used up - I have some left from the samples - to get me through until I can afford the Joviance Cream.
Joviance cream is a mosturizer - ladies - it feels like silk on your face - really!!!!!
I have a friend who loves - okay - adores - Mac lipsticks and glosses - I have a few - they are nice - very nice.
Oh, if you want your feet to feel like silk at night - cream them up with an inexpensive cream - and wrap them up in clear plastic wrap. It's free and it works.
Remember - keep your Optimum Card with you at all times. Always shop on 20X the points days ladies and gentlemen. And only redeem when you get to the $200.00 level - and you have gotten all those dollars back - that you spent on things you thought you really needed.
